Day 148: How Hesitation Hurts
He was headed for his goal and everything flowed.
Then at the right exact moment to continue the play that was already in motion, he hesitated. It was just a nano second. But it was enough to stop what he wanted to happen.
The other kid scored.
When I saw it, it was a light bulb that went off in my head because I do the exact same thing.
I pause when I should trust.
Everything will go as I hope and planned for and at the most pivotal moment, doubt creeps in and I freeze.
With him, it was a nano second. I’m sure with me it started like that.
But over time I’ve gone from slight hesitation to slamming on the brakes.
I shared with him what I saw and expressed that I only saw it because I knew it from my own experience. “Trust your body. Get your mind out of the game. Do. Not. Think.”. His next opportunity he did it. He trusted himself and made the perfect play.
