Day 161: Something for Nothing

One of the travel influencers that I follow popped off about people sliding into her DM’s making requests.

She said, (paraphrasing) if you start asking for very detailed personalized information and don’t even follow the account, that’s not a good look. She said the same thing about people pitching brands.

I messaged her, we’ve DMed casually a couple times, and said I’m glad she said something.

I also shared that it’s good that she has some success under her belt. Because when I was inundated with “brain pickers” it was before my business income could sustain me. Having a lack of boundaries early on really impacted my sense of security with growing.

The more visible you get, the more members you get, the more people that have access to you. Right?

WRONG!

Well, it should be wrong. That wasn’t the case for me in the beginning but I’ve since learned.

The work we are doing here is to make sure that when you are flexing your audacity arm it’s the one that can bring good into your world. Or keep negativity out.

All of this should be done without exploiting others expertise like my influencer friend.

Audacity is awesome, but being a user or transactional probably can and will backfire.

This is where the golden rule comes in. Do unto others as you’d have done unto you.

And when you are asking, make sure the intention is for expansion. For you, and the other party(ies).

Speaking of which… I heard back about my pitch to present Activating Audacity to my Success Secret Society member’s community. She said yes. Wahoo! Mutually beneficial!
