Day 19: The 365 Day Inspiration

Not sure I’ve shared with you where the inspiration to do this 365 blogging challenge came from.

It was Jerry Seinfeld. In one of the books I listen to on repeat (I think it was: The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Pasan) the author shares how Jerry Seinfeld starts the year with a fresh calendar and all he has to do is write one joke each day. That’s his one thing. The jokes don’t have to be shared, or be good. It’s the practice that helps him to become an expert at his trade.

I got tired of telling myself that I wanted to be a writer and an author while taking no action besides haphazardly journaling every once in a while.

The only way I’m going to get better, and gain the clarity on what I want to write about, is through the act of writing. And publishing it takes it to a whole new level.

For now it’s easy to show up every day.

It’s easy because I haven’t shared it with anyone (except a few Success Secret Society members and my potential writing mentor).

Once it’s shared, then the external expectation can feel like pressure. Which then causes fear. And do you know what is the fastest way to karate chop creativity in the head? Fear and external expectations. Doh!

As mentioned, I plan to start sharing in 30 days. I send out a Marketing & Mindset x Marcia on the 15th of each month. Coincidentally the next one goes out 30 days after publishing Day 1.

Really hoping in 11 days it can be second nature to post. It has been pretty effortless to write. Last night kind of through me for a tizzy but that’s because of my road trip and being away from home for 10 hours.

This is a very full week with podcast recordings (and editing the episode for Tuesday) tomorrow morning, a chamber council meeting on Tuesday, brunch on Wednesday, my hair appointment AND our One Thing optimization workshop (wanna come? Here’s the LINK) on Thursday, and corsage pick up on Friday.
