Day 20: Winners Lose More Than Losers Do
I heard Ryan Serhant say that while watching an Instagram Live at his annual meeting. I’m not sure if he came up with that quote but when I heard it, it really landed.
Those who try and fail and quit never win.
Winners are used to failing. But they keep at it. Maybe they make excuses for a loss or maybe they don't. But, they don’t let a loss keep them from trying again.
Everyone loses.
Not everyone wins.
The ones who do win repeatedly have had to tweak, test, and reiterate over and over.
Tenacity, grit, and steadfastness.
Because I believe being a winner or winning is completely subjective I want to share an online convo I had last week.
A marketing manager I follow had a post about comparison-itis. She had a slew of pics of her family and captions about how she thought she should be further along in business. It wasn’t until she realized that everyone’s situation was different, that she found some peace. (paraphrasing of course)
My response below:
I’m sharing because I want you to remember that “being a winner”, or a champion, at anything is something you have control over.
You can wake up tomorrow and decide that you aren’t going to cave to bad habits. Or, better yet, you are going to choose good habits to push out the bad ones.
Will the past patterns of negative self-talk happen? Yes. You have neuropathways that make it the easier path. But you can start building new pathways.
Pathways that lead to feeling and being a winner in your own eyes.
And that’s all that matters.
You get that right?
Don’t buy into the bullshit that competition and constantly fighting and pushing and forcing is the way to win.
It’s literally just showing up. Taking action. Learning, tweaking, and showing gratitude for any progress made. Will you fall and fail. Yes. But, just having the courage to try new things and put yourself first, makes you pretty much a winner in my book!
Go get it! Losses, wins, all of it!
