Day 32: Tiny Home Dream Dashed
My dreams have been dashed.
I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts about clutter.
The host is also an author and talked about multiple airbnbs she has stayed at while writing her books. One of which was a shipping crate tiny home. She went into detail about the entire layout.
I was foaming at the mouth thinking, “Oh yes, this is the dream! The ability to have only like 5 outfits. 4 sets of dishes. 3 blankets and a roomba.”. Only the essentials.
As the episode progressed she started talking about how a lot of her clients imagine that a space with physical limitations seems ideal but in actuality, it probably wont work out.
Because if you were really about simplification and restriction: why wouldn’t you do that in your current space.
Ugh!
It’s so true though.
We think that our current situation is what is keeping us beholden.
But in actuality, we can design and fine tune our environments to be whatever we want.
It’s just easier to punt the responsibility forward thinking that if circumstances were better, we’d be different.
