Day 43: Resources for Overwhelm
I had a 1:1 this morning and the topic of mental health came up.
We were chatting all business but at the end of the call I asked if I could share some resources that help me when my brain starts to feel as bad as my body, or my body starts to feel as bad as my brain. You get it, complete overwhelm.
This client is experiencing significant stress this week. From juggling business, parenting responsibilities, and assisting the local community in multiple ways while the government is shut down. The mental load is currently very heavy.
Here’s the list I shared, in case it could be of help to you:
Writing. This one is simple, just get it all out.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). I love Brad Yates on YouTube. He’s got “tapping” for everything.
Music while walking. I have a playlist of songs I like to sing along to or Vivaldi works when I don’t want to sing.
Guided meditations. I like Lisa Beachy on YouTube.
Less cell phone usage. I will knit or play solitaire with a deck of cards to keep my hands busy.
Reading. My favorite book that stays on my nightstand: The Complete Works of Florence Scovel Shinn (affiliate LINK to the paperback I have)
Any of these resources can help when you’re feeling frozen. Try them out the next time you feel overwhelmed.
