Day 42: The ADHD Tax

Have you heard of it?

It’s when people with ADHD lose money and time because of their neurodiversity (ie impulsivity, not thinking things through, distraction).

Today I had the pleasure of losing multiple hours in both work and household.

I was in the Edits app putting together a reel from today’s delivery of all the upgraded items for the Airbnb. After working on the reel for an hour and a half I decided to fix the file cabinet that had a janky leg. Why finish when I could go do something else?

After I fixed file cabinet (which took about an hour, some cuss words and help from the kid) I got back to my phone and did something on it. No clue what I was doing but once I was done, I swiped up to close the app I was in. I then proceeded to rapid fire close out all of the other apps. Including the Edits app.

My progress was not saved.

I cursed under my breath (I thought) and Ryan said, “Sorry that happened babe”.

To not sit there in rage I grabbed the files that have been on my desk since the janky leg in the file cabinet broke and went to place the folders in there rightful home. I got about 2/3 done and guess what happens. The leg popped off again. It was the weight of the folders. Why didn’t I think of that?

Multiple hours wasted on dumb shit that was avoidable.

Besides my annoyance I am excited to get the reel completed and posted. These types of occurrences aren’t new for me and I will say that my recall isn’t too bad so recreating the reel should take half or less of the time.

If you aren’t following me on IG, why don’t you? Link to the reel of upgrades, and my profile, below:
