Day 50: Beyond Surface Level

“Thank you so much for seeing the whole me, and not just focusing on why I scheduled this appointment.”

That’s what I said this morning after an appointment regarding my lady parts. The nurse practitioner, who I’ve seen twice now, made a couple of medicine recommendations and also ordered tests. This is after actively listening to me and answering the many personal questions that I had.

Her professionalism, knowledge, and attentiveness made me think of myself as a business owner and all of the women I work with.

We have a tendency to dig. To get in there. And not stop at the couple of sentences that we get as an overview or feedback.

We want to be holistic.

Who are you and what is your situation? Why are you here? What else? Tell me more.

I was so excited and energized by the amazing care provider appointment that I had to ask Carin to lead our monthly hot seat coaching/consulting call (in our Success Secret Society) and keep me on track. Everyone giggled a bit but there was that knowing.

We’ve all been through the opposite. The practitioners who look over what’s on paper, ask a couple questions, assume they know exactly what it is: then send you on your way.

Wham bam thank you ma’am.

It’s frustrating and annoying.

But you can’t give up. You have to keep searching for that special lady. The one who is going to help your lady parts, your business, your home life, your partnership, etc.

Carin and I were that during the call. We assisted with the copy on an opt-in page, helped create a content calendar for a launch, the current trend in sharing knowledge, and feedback on when to advertise and how much to spend.

We were like my provider. Well, I was after I reeled it back in and started to ask qualifying questions. At first I kind of popped off sharing my experience with a timeline for something we are launching in the spring but then I remembered this member could be launching literally anything. So I dug in and got more details from her. Then we dove in with strategy. It was so fun!

Just like I’m sure it was for this morning’s provider. She got to leave that call knowing that she’s helping someone who is struggling.

I hope you feel that too when you are working with people. Regardless of who it is or what it is you are doing. I hope you are confident and acknowledging yourself and your gifts.

If not, consider booking a 1:1 with me so we can get you in a more positive mind frame. The quickest way to do your best work is to appreciate what you are already doing well. And poor gasoline on it!
