Day 135: The Multi-Passionate Life

When going through a notebook earlier I saw notes from one of our meetings. I had underlined: idea demon babies. Not sure who to credit that to, if it was Carin or one of our members, but I laughed as hard when I read it today as when I heard it that first time.

I haven’t met an entrepreneur yet who hasn’t gotten bored, or unintentionally derailed themselves, with idea demon babies.

Just when you should be buckeling in and pushing the gas, you think “I just came up with the best idea!”.

Obviously I do this and have no shame about it. My two most recent ones are the Activating Audacity group program and writing the novel.

Maybe we should have more gratitude for these babies. I can wholeheartedly say that having multiple pots going on the stove at once helps me to really focus in when I need to.

Earlier today I was able to complete a few hours of client work with no distraction or wandering mind. I was “in the zone”. While I’d like to think it was in part due to my skills I think it had a lot to do with how the tasks were set up. I did have to get somewhat creative but the project really was cut and dry tied up with a pretty bow. When I completed it I felt so great.

This is my life though. I make incremental steps in so many different directions. It’s great for ADHD but will we ever get to the tipping point if I’m building so many different things? Everything is compounding but … it’s everything, not just one thing.

The first guided meditation I did was through Tara Mohr’s Playing Big program. She had us transport ourselves up into space and then land in the future meeting our future selves. We got to ask her one question. I asked future Marcia “What am I supposed to be doing with my life?”. She answered, “You’re doing it.”.

It was reassuring but I also always feel behind. Like maybe I’m turning too quickly.

Oh, I like this quote: “If the path before you is bare, you’re on someone elses.”. Let that sink in!
