Day 155: Small Steps Still Make Results

One of our Success Secret Society members did it again. She mentioned audacity in her newsletter today. I’m going to ask her if I can speak to her community about audacity. I just decided it….after I sent an email response to her newsletter.

Now I have to play it cool. And wait for her to respond before I can ask.

Teaching her community is the perfect opportunity because:

  1. it will give me a deadline to create a presentation

  2. Crafting the presentation and presenting it to her community will provide practice

  3. I will engage real time with the participants which will be helpful

  4. IT WILL GIVE ME A DEADLINE

WIthout a deadline I don’t create great work. It happened just earlier today. I had 2 client deliverables. I’d been spinning out and pole vaulting over mouse terds for the past few days. Then I sat down to get it done and BAM! Magic! The ADHD hyper-focus kicked in and I crushed it.

Shortly after I got on the socials and saw an old colleague post about a woman-focused event she’s involved with. I dm’ed her asking for her to let me know in the future of any speaking opportunities.

Now that I know my mission, it’s on like donkey kong.

Anyways, I took a screenshot of my request and shared it in my story with the Michael Jordan quote “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”.

I didn’t know what the outcome was going to be. She could have ignored me. Or said, do some research. Or anything. But…. this lil experience of trying to encourage the ladies to be more audacious is something I need to live in real time too.

Both the request on IG and the one I will make to our member are very low risk. But, it’s still flexing my audacity arm <—- omg, I lerv that. Logo idea? hahaha.

Ok, stay focused Marsh. I did two things today that are in direct alignment with where I want to go.

Is there anything you can do right now, or by the end of the week (you like a deadline too don’t you?), that is very low risk but will grow your muscle? I don’t want it to be something huge like asking for a 10% raise. It needs to be something small, and a request from a safe person. Make it something that will move you a step forward if you snag it while also reminding you that: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”.

If for some reason you aren’t in my Instagram stories, explain yourself! I’m at @marciadsheehan And tag me when you have THE AUDACITY!

I’m cheering you on!
