Day 170: Out of Office

I’m spent. Technically it’s day 171 but we just got to our hotel room.

I set some boundaries today and communicated them assertively. At first when the requests were coming in by text I thought, “what they’re asking me to do will only take a few minutes, I’ll field them and don’t need to get into details.”.

Then the Wifi was horrible, I couldn’t log in and what should have taken 5 minutes took about 20. So I communicated that I was unavailable for the rest of the day.

Towing the line between protecting peoples privacy and also making sure clients don’t get offended can be tough. But emergencies happen and you have to have faith that you’re working with humans. They may get annoyed or irritated but it’s not at you, it’s that their problems aren’t getting solved immediately.

We should be back to our regularly scheduled programming for Day 171.
