Day 177: More Progress

How’s the blog going?

“Great, I’m on day 177!”

I told her writing daily led me to the fiction book and retreat. She asked about the subject of the book. I told her I’ve only told 4 family members.

Ok, I get it. I don’t want you breaking any of your rules.

She meant it. She’s a straight shooter.

I told her I wanted to tell her about it. And then stumbled through the story lines. She lit up and was genuinely intrigued, despite my bouncing around and side lines. As I was trying to get the details out succinctly it made me think about the prework I’ve read and how the pitch should be tight. Really going to need to work on that.

Apparently my mentor is a huge fiction reader. I had no idea. She helped me determine my genre is intrigue. Not necessarily mystery because you know who is doing what. I asked her if she would be one of my readers (another thing I’m supposed to do, compose a list of 5).

“I wouldn’t ask you if I didn’t want straight answers.”

Since I met her a few years ago I’ve thoroughly enjoyed her no nonsense, upfront, and sometimes cutting (not towards me) words.

Everything about this whole experience has unfolded in such a wonderful way! Until today I had no idea she was so into reading. What a great way for us to bond even more.
