Day 79: Hi-Ho Hi-Ho It’s Off to Cowork I Go
I coworked today at a cute little shop I’ve been wanting to check out since before it opened.
A couple months ago I saw a post on Threads about any work from home folks wanting to meet up weekly to cowork. This was the first one that worked for my schedule. The coordinator is a young, energetic and bubbly comms turned branding agency owner. It was just the two of us for a bit so we got to know each other. Later a full time employee joined us who is also starting an OBM business.
We all started working and then the final attendee showed up. A realtor from Alexandria. I asked her if she knew my dear friend Allyson Lenz, who is also a realtor at her firm, and she did. Small world!
In true form, I kept getting distracted. An older couple arrived with twin toddler boys who started kirking out…at the same time a drill or really loud blender started going off, so I opted to put my AirPods in. At that point, magic started to happen. I looked at the tasks on my calendar (something new I learned to do. Love that the colors are different than calendar events) and plowed through them.
There was about 15 minutes before it was time to go so I reminded the coordinator that she wanted a group photo. We took it and then I spent the last 10 minutes doing about 2 hours worth of work from yesterday’s conversation. Everything had been settling in my brain and now I have a document that’s practically done.
Trying to hack productivity is wild because it’s a moving target. I actually got my period this morning which was 15 days late, which never happens. I had been having 2 cycles a month and then when the NP prescribed me progesterone my period ran away. Had I not decided to go to the coworking I seriously doubt I would have been nearly as productive.
Oh, I also cancelled my coworking space membership. I got it back in April and was rarely going. At first I went but wasn’t using it enough. Earlier this week I said to myself, if I want to work there I can buy day passes. That way the guilt of not using the membership is no longer there.
Is there anything you’ve been putting off canceling because you don’t want to quit? December is a great time to revisit what services and softwares we want and need for the following tax year.
