Day 39: Redo

I’ve been trying for over an hour (and 2 different sittings) to force a post that just doesn’t want to come out.

So I scrapped it.

The topic is too heady and serious to not be coherent.

This 365 day challenge isn’t just to see if I can keep a promise to myself and be consistent. It’s also about honing the craft of writing.

When creating a couple audio recordings the other day (the days with an asterisk have an audio component) I realized some of the entries weren’t fully formed. There was a start, thoughts on the topic but no summary at the end. No final thoughts. No neat bow tying things together.

Writing daily might be contributing to the lack of endings, despite the entries not being continuous.

The formatting has been bothering me so I need to work on it.

I also want to work on YOU.

All the books that I love the most are focused on YOU. So the reader feels that they are being directly written to and guided. It’s like when recording video and looking into the camera lens, not yourself. It creates connection with the viewer. They are looking at your eyes in the recording and it appears you are looking directly into their eyes.

The YOU thing will definitely be more difficult than summarizing. Because besides asking questions, I don’t know how to draw you in. That’s why the idea of fiction appeals to me because having a protagonist that the reader watches feels less narcissistic than a non-fiction monologue of personal stories.

Just a small peek into how this process is working itself out. I am glad I scrapped the first entry today because this took way less time to share.
