Day 65: Visibility for Solopreneurs
Visibility.
It’s the topic that tried to derail me while I attempted to get out of the house to go get an emissions test done on the car.
Brian (my brains name): “I’m going to make an opt-in for the newsletter that is all about reasons why solopreneurs have visibility issues.” “Ok, grab a pen and paper: it doesn’t matter that you are in a towel. We need to do this NOW!”
At this point I start to pick up what’s about to go down. Instead of grabbing the pen and notebook, I got dressed. While getting dressed I thought about how people don’t give a shit about why they have visibility issues, they want to know how to bypass them.
I’m dressed and then grab the pen and paper.
I write at the top:
7 Common Visibility Blocks and How to Remove Them
Shit, that’s good. Way to go Brian.
I write the first one down:
Fear of judgement
Then I pause. How much should I write down and should it be the different types of judgement? Self judgment, karmic judgment, stranger judgment, etc.
To buy time I realize it would be a great idea to count how many lines are left under Fear of judgment. Naturally. That’s going to be the only way to stall in this moment on having to come up with 6 more blocks.
21 lines.
So each block gets a line then 2 under it for my musings.
Block number two comes easy:
Fear of not being expert enough
Number three swirled around a bit because is it too similar to Fear of judment? Brian says no:
Unhealed trauma from exposure in the past
The remaining came with a bit of struggle but the list is great.
Once I wrote the 7th down I made myself stop because I had to get the emissions done. Ha! In your face Brian, you’re not derailing me today.
What’s wild though is yesterday I had a work project I kept punting and almost went to Costco for the Airbnbs. I’m set to go on Friday but convinced myself yesterday when I sat down to work that Costco on the Friday before Thanksgiving is insane. I almost convince myself but realized it was a ploy to not do what I kept saying I would do. So I did it! And it took way longer than expected. Still isn’t perfect. And unfortunately makes me one more step closer to having to get super visible. Ahhh… working for yourself is a treat.
